Almost every company is either starting off or is on the way to embracing cloud computing as a way of business. This growing demand is giving impetus to a host of startups in the cloud computing space, with plenty of room for companies to carve their niche and grow. Yet, within this innovative field are the super-innovators who are a notch above the rest, delivering disproportionate value to their clients. Whether it is a specialized service like helping enterprises transition to the cloud, or managing their cloud applications end-to-end, the market has it all. Here is a look at some of the promising cloud startups to look out for, if you are embarking on the cloud journey.

1. Apcera: Founded in 2012 and managed by founder and CEO Derek Collison, it provides a container management platform for companies to operate in the cloud. The best takeaway is that the application helps manage both legacy applications and recent cloud services, making it attractive to companies at every stage of cloud enablement. Besides, end-to-end services including scheduling, orchestration, networking, and storage make it worthwhile to consider.

2. Cazena: Founded in 2015 by Prat Moghe, it is a big Data Platform-as-a-Service (dPaaS) offering that helps automate data movements. Its services are meant for Azure and AWS, helping run analytics applications on these platforms. It helps govern various elements of the cloud such as data migration, analytics, and security and so on.

3. Dizzion: This cloud provider focuses on small and medium businesses, offering desktop-as-a-solution solutions, endpoints, application delivery, application storage, and other cloud functionalities. Its cloud services work well for industries with remote workers, such as healthcare and finance. The company is led by president and CEO, Steve Prather.

4. Elastifile: This startup is focused on hybrid cloud solutions, particularly data management and unification across disparate locations, bringing it together locally. It offers a unique distributed file storage technology called the Elastifile Cloud File System, which is a flash storage solution to help manage this data. The company was founded by Amir Aharoni in 2013.

5. Hedvig: A niche startup that operates in the space of hyper-scale storage, Hedvig was founded in 2012 by Avinash Lakshman. The company focuses on data protection by replicating data across private and public cloud systems. It leverages its Distribution Storage Platform to enable high performance data storage across multiple environments.

6. Infinite Ops: Founded in 2015, this startup intends to make it easier to deploy and manage the public cloud by offering a bundle of IT software for this purpose. It offers a mix of workspaces, databases, identity management, firewalls, and so on.

7. Netskope: This Los Altos based startup is into the business of cybersecurity, offering solutions that help companies identify threats and protect the cloud. It thus provides organizations visibility with respect to enterprise workloads and their security elements, thus lowering the risk of data losses and cyber incidents. It was founded in 2012 and is led by Sanjay Beri.

8. Pulseway: CEO and founder Marius Mihalec established this company in 2011 as a mobile-first IT solution from MMSOFT Design. It helps IT managed services providers and administrators to remotely monitor and manage cloud infrastructure. Endpoint protection solutions are also one of its core offerings. The best part is its user friendliness and application access—users can connect to an application via smartphones, tablets, or desktop browsers.

9. Sapho: Founded in 2014 and led by CEO and founder Fouad ElNaggar, Sapho provides a platform for enterprises to build micro-apps on their existing systems. The idea is to drive employee productivity by building these need-based applications and making them accessible to employees remotely and at any time. This includes data access anytime and anywhere, thereby simplifying workloads.

10. Skyhigh Networks: This cloud access company was founded in 2011 by its CEO Rajiv Gupta. It provides a platform through which companies can gain real-time visibility to their cloud initiatives. Now, it is easier than ever for companies to detect threats, monitor cloud implementations, and track cloud progress. It is truly useful since it can be integrated easily with a host of third-party solutions too.

The list indicates that there are a host of niche players redefining innovation in the cloud space. Many of these have been set up within the past five years, and yet have created a lasting impression by adding value to their clients. The key to doing so is in identifying a niche need and catering to it in the best possible manner.
