IIT Kharagpur Invites Applications from Students for Free Online Course on Cloud Computing through NPTEL

IIT Kharagpur, through Ministry of HRD’s NPTEL programmme, has invited for a free online course on cloud computing for which students can enroll
IIT Kharagpur, through the Ministry of Human Resource Development’s NPTEL scheme, has invited applications from interested students for a free online course on cloud computing. The National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) project is an initiative of MHRD initiated and seven Indian Institutes of Technology (Bombay, Delhi, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras, Guwahati, and Roorkee) along with the Indian Institute of Science to provide quality education to anyone interested in learning from the IITs.

The cloud computing course from IIT Kharagpur will be conducted for a period of 8 weeks by Soumya K.Ghosh, who is a Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur. Before joining IIT Kharagpur, he worked for the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) in the area of satellite remote sensing and geographic information systems.

Who is Eligible for the IIT Kharagpur Cloud Computing Course?
Engineering or postgraduate students from computer science, electronics and electrical streams with knowledge on the basics of computer architecture and organization, networking can take the course. Students can enroll for the course beginning now until 24 February 2020. The online course will be conducted from 24 February 2020 to 17 April 2020.

The course will cover Introduction to Cloud Computing, Cloud Computing Architecture, Service Management in Cloud Computing, Data Management in Cloud Computing, Resource Management in Cloud, Cloud Security, Open Source and Commercial Clouds, Cloud Simulator, and Research trend in Cloud Computing, Fog Computing.

How to Obtain Certificate for the IIT Kharagpur Cloud Computing Course?

Although enrolling and taking the online course is free, students interested to get the e-certificate for the AICTE approved FDP course would need to register and write the proctored exam conducted in person at any of the designated examination centres. To take the exam, students would need to pay Rs 1000, and the same will be conducted on 26 April 2020 at morning session 9 am to 12 noon and afternoon Session 2 pm to 5 pm.

To get the certificate with IIT Kharagpur and NPTEL logos candidates need an average assignment score of 25% of the average of best 6 assignments out of the total 8 assignments given in the course, an exam score of 75% of the proctored certification exam score out of 100 and a Final score of Average assignment score plus Exam score.
